In the past, getting into university was difficult. It seemed that university was only for those with the top grades. Because Darwin has more indigenous people than most other states, CDU offers a wide range of indigenous scholarships. These scholarships are in a range of disciplines. To make things simpler, here is a list of those scholarships:

  • The Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarship for all areas of study. This has various maximum values.
  • National Tertiary Education Union Scholarship which covers $3000 and is for arts students.
  • For those wanting to get into business and science there is the Newmont Tanami Indigenous Scholarship which covers $8000.
  • Engineering seems like a popular choice as the Kennelly Constructions Indigenous Engineering Scholarship covers around $20,000.

The University of Sydney is involved in the Mary MacKillop Foundation Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship program. Three scholarships are offered as part of this program. One of these is the Good Shepherd Reconciliation Scholarship which covers $3000.

Since 1998, this scholarship has been giving indigenous people the chance to pursue studies. Consequently, many people who gain this scholarship have success in their future careers. The Mary Mackillop Foundation has made a commitment. That is to assist indigenous people in going to university. Hence, the scholarship.

The University of Melbourne offers three indigenous scholarships. This is part of the Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships Program. These scholarships are offered to people who come from low socio-economic backgrounds. Therefore, these are great scholarships for indigenous students who want to have more successful futures.
